A synopsis of the global state of BIM

Rebecca De Cicco runs Digital Node, a BIM education and training provider. Rebecca is delivering her seminar on Day 2 of BIM Show Live: A synopsis of the Global State of BIM.
Here Rebecca tells us what you can expect when attending her talk and the key take-aways you’ll leave with.
We can all try to assume how BIM is evolving globally but unless on the hard face of clients, government bodies and those working on projects it is almost impossible to understand this.
That’s why my seminar at BIM Show Live will give you a direct look into what’s happening with BIM around the world. This session will focus on the practical view of how BIM is evolving globally, the high players, the loud talkers and the more advanced solutions being undertaken when it comes to BIM.
The aim of this session is to allow you to understand the global impact of the UK BIM environment driven by UK Government and to realise the opportunities this has created for UK businesses.
At Digital Node we work in many different world-wide regions, most recently we have been working with clients in China and as such have developed a large amount of knowledge as to how BIM is being implemented in Asia. The scale and drive for digitisation in China is slowly growing and this is something we need to address and acknowledge as there are opportunities for UK businesses to enter the China market to accelerate this process.
Equally, the USA and Canada are regions which offer significant opportunities. Having worked closely with the BIM Forum enables us to give insights into the state of play of BIM In the US and how it has evolved.
There are a variety of documents and processes which have been released, yet in many cases this has been disjointed and largely isolated.
The global state of BIM is often perceived as a difficult area to discuss as there are isolated and advanced pockets which are not being shared, however being an education provider to many companies with a global reach means we are in a strong position to understand the standards which support BIM that are crucial for any individual or organisation looking to scale its business beyond the borders of the UK. Hence we will share tips, techniques and insights into how to grow your business in international markets.
Rebecca De Cicco is speaking in the Strategy Stream on Day 2, Thursday 1 March at 14:30.
