A senior construction solicitor of over 14 years͛ experience, May is a recognised specialist in BIM and emerging construction technology. She was one of the first lawyers to research and get involved in the legal and contractual aspects of BIM, and has drafted BIM contractual documents and guidance, advised on disputes and been involved in developing risk management processes in this area. She has experience working closely with the technical, operational and commercial teams to provide practical solutions, guidance and improvements to enable innovative processes to be implemented with minimal delay and maximum mitigation of risks.
May has spoken worldwide regarding BIM and innovation, and is the author of various articles on legal issues of BIM, digitisation and technology. This includes being co-author of the award-nominated Winfield Rock Report and author of the award-winning paper, ͚’Building InformationModelling: The Legal Frontier – Overcoming Legal and Contractual Obstacles͛’.
May has been involved in the set-up of, and participates in, various industry groups relating to digitisation and innovation . She is a BSI committee member for ISO19650 guidance, associate editor of the ‘Frontiers: Blockchain’ publication, Chair of BIM4Legal and Core Team Member of the 4D BIM Group.
