John Ford is a specialist in digital information management and modelling with over 15 years’ experience. Straight out of school, John joined the industry very young and was thrown into an analogue world where paper seemed to dominate every desk and computers were used for little more than email.
Early in his Career, John was lucky to get involved in the transformational work being undertaken by Avanti, where project information management standards and early CAD/modelling techniques were being tested in an effort to improve the industry which eventually led to the publication of BS1192:2007 and later, contributed to PAS1192-2. John took this knowledge and continued to develop upon its foundations, implementing some of the first standard digital practices in the UK including the first version of COBie being adopted on a hospital in 2008 to test standardised asset registration.
John has spoken around Europe regarding various subjects including information management, information modelling and design management. He`s a member of the BSI B555 19650 transitional and technical guidance panel, a vice chair for the East Midland BIM Region and is involved in several public and private sector steering groups sharing knowledge and helping to transform the industry through client driven innovations. Hes an author in several UK BIM guidance documents and co-authored a book on COBie for construction.
