Warrant Officer Class One Andrew Johnson joined the Army at Bassingbourn on 2nd April 1995. Early service was spent in the close and general support roles as a Plant Operator in the UK and Germany, including deployments to the Bosnia and Kosovo, and exercises in BATUS and Poland.
He attended the Military Plant Foreman course and was promoted to Staff Sergeant in 2008, where he was assigned to 21 Engineer Regiment in Ripon.
In 2010, he deployed to Afghanistan on Op HERRICK 12 to design and construct Route Trident phase two and many other infrastructure tasks all under fire. He received the Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service for his work on Op HERRICK 12.
In 2012, he was promoted to Warrant Officer Class Two and was assigned for 3 years to Oman on Loan Service as the civil engineer adviser. Whilst there he assisted with the Remal boader road project. In 2015, he was assigned to the Export Support Team as the Plant and Logistics adviser on behalf of the Government’s Department of Trade and Industry as Sergeant Major Instructor Military Plant Foreman for the Professional Engineering Wing.
As Sergeant Major Instructor, he was responsible for the redesign and restructuring of the Military Plant foreman course and trade, creating a team and engaging with the technical roster on the changes.
He has a first class BEng (Hons) in Engineering Management and MSc in Engineering Management.
