BIM Show Live spoke with Gavin Dunstan of SES ahead of the BIM Awards 2018 on the award entry and what makes them a potentially award-winning nominee:
SES has been working with BIM for many years delivering countless BIM projects and has a clear roadmap in place for the journey towards a fully BIM enabled business. In 2017, SES successfully renewed their BRE BIM Level 2 certification (SES is currently the only M&E services contractor that holds this certification) and rolled out BIM Level 2 BIM training and individual accreditations to senior BIM employees.
SES has instigated a company policy to deliver all projects using BIM as a standard offering, fully co-ordinated in three dimensions using the verified detailed design and actual procured plant data. Also, and as part of their Integrated Project Delivery strategy, BIM forms an integral component of the entire SES delivery process. This integration is further enhanced through linking the model with the SES ERP system enabling automated take-offs direct from the SES project BIM and thus bringing further value to the project team to help meet project design targets for best value, and of course, a significant reduction to the on-site construction programme. Once complete, all SES models are then subject to a two-stage manual and automatic clash detection process to ensure a confirmed clash free model well in advance of installation commencement
SES’ BIM strength lies within its integration of people, processes and technology which, having made significant investments in each of these areas, enables an ‘input once, use many’ strategy.
In supporting these strategies, SES is fully committed to BIM and the major advantages it can bring to all projects undertaken.
SES is on track to be a fully digitally enabled business!
